Maria is responsible for the development and management of LINC Housing
Corporations resident services program, LINC Cares, which makes
life-enhancing services directly available to residents and their
surrounding communities.
Marias passion for community work started during her early years as a
Girl Scout and she has since dedicated her life to improving the quality of
life for families, children, seniors, and the community-at-large. Maria has
more than 10 years experience in program development, community organizing,
advocacy, and grass-roots policy change in her work with various nonprofit
and government organizations.

Prior to joining LINC, Maria was the Service Planning Area 5 Council Coordinator
for the Los Angeles County Childrens Planning Council. Her experiences also
include the implementation of the U.S. Department of Labors Youth Fair
Chance case-management program in the Pico-Union district, where she utilized
her outreach and organizing skills to develop educational and work opportunities
with high-risk youth. She served as a community organizer for AGENDAs campaign
to promote economic development opportunities in South Los Angeles, and an organizer
and advocate with homeless families at Harbor Interfaith Shelter in San Pedro.
Maria is currently serving a second four-year term as City Clerk for the City of
Gardena. Maria has her Bachelor Degree in Latin American Studies and her Masters
in Social Work from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Maria spends her free time at the park with her husband, Matthew, her son, Harrison,
her niece, Sophia, her nephew, Nicholas, and the family dog, Sir Phinneus
Bentley. If not at the park, the entire family can be found playing soccer,
baseball, basketball, or just plain lounging around in the backyard.
